As part of the audiovisual material for Fairs and Presentations, BioSystems commissioned me to create a functional Video, where the main features of the BA400 Analyzer are explained, through sequences of animations rendered from the three-dimensional model.
At the same time, and in complicity with the Solidworks team, the challenge of making the most of the 3DVía Composer software in this project was posed. That is to say, to use the animation and rendering tools of Solidworks, this would guarantee an absolute compatibility with the material (geometries) supplied by Biosystems.
After a brief training by CimWork Vallés staff, and with the use of a temporary license given by Solidworks, in a month and a half all the tasks of the project were completed.
The Video is a 100% functional product, with infographic language, and a rhythm and structure oriented to Fairs and Exhibitions. Clear music, subtitles, and a very basic color code that can be quickly understood. A duration of 4 minutes, and a text guide on the left side, which helps to follow the routine. Initially the Product is described by means of a 360, a list of main advantages is presented, and then each of the 3 relevant features is developed.

As customers, in the two projects I have worked on, they have been impeccable. Excellent human value. Few changes throughout the development, a very clear Briefing at all times, and a constant illusion with the result.
Biosystems’ BA400 is a clinical chemistry and turbidimetry analyzer designed to offer the best functionality for laboratories seeking maximum efficiency at the lowest operating costs.
Combined with original Biosystems reagents and worldwide service coverage, the BA400 system defines the next generation of clinical analyzers.

The starting point of the project was a meeting with the client to establish what they wanted to convey. Which were the characteristics of the BA400 that needed to be explained in depth, or which represented an innovation with respect to the previous model.
From here a script was established, which will determine the sections of the Video. Firstly, a development of the main features, and then a detail of a work routine.
Once these sections are defined, the best way to represent each one of them is studied in depth. Proposals are made, and together with the client, they are refined until they are validated.
Import of Product Geometries / a very important part of the Project is the import and cleaning of the different geometries contained in the Analyzer.
Product appearance / depending on the level of realism that the Client wants, the materials of each component are adjusted. In some cases, the necessary textures are created.
Scene definition / different environments are proposed for the course of the Video. Iterations in background colors, illuminations, etc.
Storyboard and Mockup animation / From the defined script, an initial basic animation is developed. Modifications are made until a consensus is reached on the way in which each of the Product Features are represented.
Final Rendering and Post-Production / Once all Previews have been validated, the final rendering is done in production quality. With this material, Postproduction is performed, applying all kinds of visual effects, to emphasize those elements that need it. Texts are added, and finally the Audio track.
With all the work done, small changes requested by the Client are applied.
The result, after many hours of work, a long post production, and very few changes by BioSystems, is the following.
It is important to keep in mind that both the appearance (render engine) and the quality of the geometry for rendering (quality when triangulating the mathematical surfaces), were defined and limited by 3DVia Composer. By using a proprietary SolidWorks tool, I had many advantages in terms of geometry integration, but some obvious limitations in the aesthetic section.
Anyway, it was a known limitation from the beginning, and the finish (less realistic and more graphical) was satisfactory for the Client.
