Overview
It all starts with a good briefing, followed by a good concept. The Woonsters has been a very fun project. From the initial idea of the characters… little classic monsters (Witch, Franky, Mummy, etc) … to the location of the Adventure … now they have grown up and have a Hotel & Spa ( in the original Woonsters was a House of Horror ) … everything has been perfect.
As a link between all the Mini Games, I thought of an elevator … that takes us up and down to the different floors of the Hotel. This has given a lot of gameplay, both in terms of storyline and animation.
Below you can see the initial concepts of the game. This is perhaps the most important point, where for each game structure defined in the Briefing by the client, a scenario and situation is defined within the theme. This assures me, from the beginning, that everything will fit during the development, and that all the spaces will be covered.
In the Woonster, these concepts had to be crazy … and they were. The Franky Personal Trainer running on a treadmill, the Woonderbrina in the Spa, the Witch in the Kitchen, the Mummy in the Basement Casino, and the Butler in the Reception. All this solved with a lot of exaggeration and fun.
The design of Slots is an extremely intense work, it is a long-distance race, in which you have to think, conceptualize, solve, and create a very long list of elements. From the 8 scenarios, Figures, Characters, Objects that adorn the spaces, and a great etcetera. In addition, a great work of animation is developed. And all this, always delimited by a technical section that is very important.
My tasks in the Project
The tasks that I have carried out in the Woonsters Hotel, have been the following
- Project Leadership.
- 100% Game and Characters Concept.
- Graphic Production of all the scenarios (modeling, shaders, lighting, rendering, animation, post-production).
End product
The result, after 900 working hours, a long post production, many changes and corrections, is as follows.
These are merely screenshots of the different scenarios. Woonsters Hotel is much more than this.
I am a graduate Product Designer, and I have been developing multimedia content, especially oriented to Products, for 15 years. A professional working method, together with a great capacity to adapt to changes, defines me as a designer.
